A ‘balanced rock’ at Pinnacle Rock, Breaks Interstate Park
Overview. Sandstone comes in many shapes and sizes - and this rock is pretty cool. Reminiscent of Balanced Rock at Natural Bridge State Park, Pinnacle Rock is a large outcrop that also appears to balance itself high above Russell Fork.

Trailhead. Ample parking is available across from the trailhead with a short walk out to the rock. Part of the side trail that leads to a small overlook was closed on my visit, but similar views can be enjoyed just east at Clinchfield Overlook. [map]
Rock climbing. Though many parks have shied away from offering rock climbing, Breaks Interstate Park has a few routes available that I hear are good bit of fun. If you’re into it, have at it!
