Race Recap
This is a great local race with exactly zero frills, hand timing, and about as laid back an atmosphere as you’ll ever find. Coming off a new distance PR last week at Hawthorn Half Day Relay and Ultra, I added this race to round out my recovery week, and it was just what the doctor ordered.
My good friend, the Colonel, joined me, and he did the full 8 miles while I cut it short at 4. The trails were very slick and muddy, and frankly, I was a bit alarmed at how much they had deteriorated in just the last couple years.
Since I took it easy, and the Colonel was still out there, I decided to see if I could get a few decent race photos for him. He came truckin’ in and wasn’t far from lapping a couple people walking the 4-miler.
Overall, a super chill day and great way to start a Saturday.
Once I got home, I reached out to Friends of Big Bone to see about some trail maintenance days. Hopefully they have something planned because these trails could use a little lovin’.
