Whittleton Branch Trail

Our families hiking Whittleton Branch

Overview. This is a short hike along Whittleton Branch, a small stream running through the northernmost section of Natural Bridge State Park. This trail is also part of the Sheltowee Trace, Kentucky's longest trail.

We frequent Whittleton Branch Trail while waiting for Miguel's to switch from breakfast to pizza on Sundays. If you add another 1/2 mile, you can visit Whittleton Arch.

Route Type:  Out and Back
Total Distance:  2 miles or 2.5 miles to the arch
Overall Difficulty:  Easy

Trailhead. The trailhead is located at the north end of Whittleton Campground inside Natural Bridge State Park. You'll turn north off of KY-11 and park near the entrance to the campground. Do NOT attempt to drive back to the trailhead, as parking is reserved for campers. [map]

Trail Navigation. From the north end of Whittleton Campground, head out on the trail and follow Whittleton Branch. You'll start heading uphill and depart from the stream for a short while. You'll come to the junction with Whittleton Arch Trail where you can turn back to finish an easy hike or make a sharp right turn, go back to Whittleton Branch, and crossover to a hill that will take you to the arch. Retrace your steps to return to the trailhead.
