For riders and drivers, here’s a Fall tour that’s built for you. Loaded with big views and short hikes, you can enjoy your ride/drive through one of the Commonwealth’s greatest treasures - Red River Gorge.
Red River Gorge

Fall for Riders and Drivers
With long, winding roads through Daniel Boone National Forest, riders and drivers will love hopping on and off these trails to take in spectacular vistas and gorgeous arches. This tour will take you top to bottom and all around Red River Gorge with stops at some great places for bites and brews.
Friday
Nada Tunnel to Tarr Ridge
Kickoff your weekend in style with a motor through Nada Tunnel and then up to Tarr Ridge. Once there, hop onto this unmarked trail for a short hike to a big-time view! Finish the day continuing the loop around the Gorge until you reach Sky Bridge Station.
Sky Bridge Station
If you’re hungry, I know a place:-) You can stop into Sky Bridge Station for a Kentucky craft beer or bourbon while enjoying a delicious meal. My pick is the Aztec quesadilla, but someday I’ll have one of their locally sourced, ultra-fresh burgers.
Saturday
Whistling Arch
Here’s a great hike to get your day started. Stop in for a short walk out to a good-sized arch with a big-time view just beyond it.
Sky Bridge
Here’s a great double arch that comes with nice views on either side. Hike it straight out off the trailhead to walk on top of it before seeing all its grandeur below.
Red River and Moonshiners Arch
Take advantage of the dry season by visiting Moonshiners Arch and enjoying some time picking along Red River.
Hop’s Fork
After a full day of driving or riding, stop in for an ice cold beer and great food at Hop’s Fork. While there, enjoy the covered patio and live music!
Sunday
Hike Up or Ride the Sky Lift to Natural Bridge
You can go full sweat by hiking the Original Trail or park and ride one of the area’s classic attractions - the Sky Lift. This chairlift will take you to and from the top of Natural Bridge to enjoy giant views from three rock outcroppings.
Miguel’s Pizza
No visit to Red River Gorge is complete until you experience Miguel’s Pizza. Sure, the pizza is delicious, but really, this is a cultural treasure. While waiting for your order, take a look around and enjoy the community!
